Ski / snowboard level

1. beginner – no or very little prior experience, at ease on green slopes, ready to begin blue runs

2. intermediate – at ease on blue slopes acquiring technique, ready to begin red’s

3. good – at ease on red slopes stabilizing core technique ready to begin black’s, ready to learn easy freeride and

touring technique / mountain awareness, avalanche safety and rescue

4. very good – at ease on black slopes diversifying technique / stabilize and develop freeride and touring technique /  mountain awareness, avalanche safety and rescue acquired

5. expert – at ease in all terrain and all conditions, create and complete technique

 

Freeride level

  1. beginner – no or very little knowledge or experience of ungroomed snow and off piste  
  2. intermidiate – at ease on gentle terrain under 30 degrees, with easy snow conditions
  3. good – at ease in all snow conditions with slopes up to 30 to 35 degrees
  4. very good – at ease in all types of snow  with slopes up to 35 to 40 degrees
  5. expert – at ease in all types of snow in slopes over 40 degrees and more

 

 Touring level

  1. beginner – no or very little knowledge or experience with ski touring gear or its practice
  2. intermidiate – at ease with identifying the gear and setting it up. Use on gentle slopes under 30 degrees
  3. good – at ease in all snow conditions on slopes up to 35 to 40 degrees including conversions
  4. very good – at ease in all types of snow  with slopes up to 35 to 40 degrees including conversions and the use of snow knives.
  5. expert – at ease in all types of snow in slopes over 40 degrees, including conversions and use of snow knives. Also at ease removing and remounting the skis/split board on steep terrain

1. very easy – 1 or 2 hour

2. easy – 2 to 3 hours

3. medium – 3 to 4 hours

4. hard – 4 to 6 hours

5. very hard – more than 6 hours

 

Freeride

Downhill vertical meters/day

1. very easy – 2000/3000m 

2. easy – 3000/5000m

3. medium – 5000/7000m

4. hard – 7000/10000m

5. very hard – above 10000m

 

 Mountain touring

These hiking ratings are per day

1. very easy – less than 500 positive meters / less than 1km distance

2. easy – more than 500 and up to 800 positive meters / 1km to 2km distance

3. medium -more than 800 and up to 1000 positive meters / 2km to 4km distance

4. hard – more than 1000 and up to 1500 positive meters / 4km to 6km distance

5- very hard – more than a 1500 positive meters / more than 6km distance
