Ski touring safari in Bulgaria

Day 1 – Arrival Day

We will await you on a flight that arrives between 12am and 3pm. We will meet you at your exit of the airport and transfer you to the city center where we will take you on a pedestrian visit of the capital. The center is full of cultural heritage of various ages. Settle in at your hotel in the center itself. In the evening, we meet in the lobby for a welcome drink followed by an evening meal.

Day 2

Warm up day in the Vitosha range with a circular itinerary. A 25km drive to the little ski resort of Aleko at 1810m. We ski tour from here to the summit at 2290m where we have some lunch. Ski down, total 5h tour. +/-600m. You then transfer with a 2 hour drive to the Rila national park to the village of Govedartsi at 1200m. Settle into your comfrotable family run hotel.

Day 3

Early start, for a big circular itinerary from Maliovista. The aim is the lakes just below Mt Maliovista at 2729m, a mythical granit summit. From the car park at 1780m, you ascend via the refuge moving through one of the nicest valleys in Bulgaria, we head for the lakes just below the summit. Snow conditions permitting you could also make it to the summit. From here you get a good view on the Rila monastery and the distant Pirin range. There are several options down depending on snow and weather conditions. +/- 1000 to 1400m. Drive for the day max. 45mins.

Day 4

Today you will ascend Mt Mossoula at 2925m. We transfer you (1h) to the resort of Borovets at 1350m, here we will take a lift to Mt Yastrebets 2330m, From here, via the Ledeno Evero refuge at 2750m we will attempt the summit depending on conditions. Several descent routes are possible down to the ski resort. Short stop in town to visit the unusual mosque and convent. +600m/-1600m

Day 5

Early start, 1h45min. transfer to the resort of Panitchichte, in the seven lakes of Rila region. That you will discover by touring its different lines. It is even possible to ski down all the way to the Rila monastery. At the end of the afternoon you visit the grand Rila monastery, this 14th century orthodox citadel will seduce you with its architecture and religious art. Transfer to Bankso 1h45 mins. Night at Bankso ski resort in a small charming family run hotel with a very good table and a sauna. +550m/-1000m, +800m/-1500m

Day 6

A huge crossing in the granite part of the Pirin range. You start touring at lake Bezbog at 2230m. Summit options, Mt Polezhan 2852m or Mt Bezbog 2965m. Lunch at the Bezbog refuge. An amazing descent through the granite valley to the van. On the way back to the hotel you could stop off and soak in the local hot thermal baths of Dobrinichte. Lodgings as the previous day. Day transfers 1h15mins. +400m/-1400m and more depending on conditions.

Day 7

Transfer to the Chiligarnika resort from where you will start your touring with an ascension to the frozen lake of Muratovo ezero. You then ski down the bowl to the Banderishki lakes.

You finish your descent on the slopes of the most well furnished resort in Bulgaria. End of afternoon transfer to Sofia. Day transfers 2h30mins  +550/-1400m

Day 8 – Departure day

Visit Sofia before we transfer you to the airport
